What to Expect with Painted Cabinetry

When we break down our kitchen projects by finish, painted maple is definitely on the top of the list. It is a picture perfect classic New England look. This look, however, comes with a slight “caution” flag. Real painted cabinetry is just that... REAL wood.  It expands and contracts with the weather/humidity level in your home. With that said, you can expect to see some cracks in the paint from time to time – especially in the winter when the heat is on. That tends to dry everything out, including your cabinetry!

Check out this Q&A from This Old House for their thoughts/comments on the topic. Click here for article.

This photograph gives an example of what you can expect to see from time to time. This crack is on the extreme side. Most of the cracking you will see, if any, will be much less noticable.

A New Kitchen Faucet Could Help Save a Life!

We have teamed up with Grohe and registered to be an official “Hope Flows” showroom.

    What does that mean???

Together, Details and GROHE are proud to support The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF) — where a minimum of 85 cents of every dollar goes toward funding the most advanced and promising breast cancer research across the globe.

We encourage you to tap into a great feeling by participating in our HopeFlows initiative:

When you buy a Ladylux3 Café Kitchen Faucet or Ladylux3 Plus Kitchen Faucet, $25 from your purchase sponsors 30 minutes of hope in the form of vital BCRF research. In addition, purchases of the pink Rainshower Icon hand shower will sponsor an additional $10. GROHE’s goal is to raise $250,000 — enough to fund a breast cancer research project for one year. So, if you have a new kitchen faucet on your “to buy” list… please consider these two options.

    We're on Houzz

Planning a home project or renovation and don't know where to begin? Start here! SO many times we have visitors in our showroom telling us about how they are starting to think about an upcoming project but feel lost. In our opinion, photos are the best way to figure out what you want, what you need, and what you don't want or need. This website is similar to Pinterest in the sense that you're "marking" photos and creating your own inspiration groupings. Houzz calls it an Ideabook. You can create your own to help turn your project into your dream project! A lot of designers, manufacturers and contractors post their own project photos that you can look through. We started a page, too! Check it out and get your project rolling!
